Today is my birthday, and I thought it would be a good time to finally start blogging! I apologize that it is bare bones around here. I hope to get things looking a bit nicer in the coming days.
I’ve been working on my version of Sarah Fielke’s Dotty for Dresden quilt from Material Obsession I. Last night I finally cut into my stash of Wonderland by Momo fabrics. I LOVE this line! I’m excited to see how the large scale dots work out as the background fabric.
I stayed up waaaaay t0o late last night chain piecing the wedges. I worked my way through 2/3rds of the wedges thinking “Wow, I am so ahead of schedule. Tomorrow I might actually start making a few dresden plates!” Here is my lovely pile of chain pieced wedges (Forgive the fuzzy iphone picture):
Then, something told me to look down. “Hmmm….. I messed up on this last one, I sewed at the narrow end. Oh look, this one is wrong too…..”
I checked the entire chain. ALL but EIGHT of the wedges were sewn on the wrong end!!!!!!!! Aaackkkkk!!!!! So today, I spent the kiddos naptime picking out all those stitches. Sigh….. that will teach me to pay attention to what I’m doing when I’m up till the wee hours of the morning 🙂
I have 30 or more wedges to pick the stitches out of, then I’ll get started on them again. Surprisingly, I am still excited to work on this quilt! Can’t wait till I have a few plates up on the wall!
Thanks for stopping by! I can’t believe I’m finally blogging!
